Overlays
Consent Overlays create overlays onto map and video content. The overlays are highly customizable in their content and layout.
As some services may not show visible content, such as captchas or analytics, there are other templates as well. You can either use an overlay, text or banner template depending on the service.
Overlay
The Overlay template applies to Google Maps, OpenStreetMap, Vimeo and YouTube. It handles map and video content created with YOOtheme Pro and its dedicated builder elements. Some other integrations are supported as well, see our list.
The Overlay template uses the following content blocks:
Type | Description |
---|---|
Title | This is the headline. It appears at the beginning of the overlay. |
Content | This is the most flexible block. You can display a single paragraph or create a custom layout. You can even render custom text as Info Button or Consent Button by using a special syntax. |
Link | This is the link for the Info Button. |
Info Button | This is a button pointing to your privacy policy which should fully inform your visitors about the data processing service. If you prefer to point to a certain section of your policy, just append its #id to the link. |
Consent Button | This is a button connected to a special function. When clicked, the user's consent will be stored in the browser and the external service will be enabled. |
Withdrawal Button | This is a button that only appears when consent is given. It is connected to a special function. When clicked, the stored consent value will be set to denied and the external service will be disabled. |
Hide unused content blocks
You can hide any content block by removing the content from its input field. However, it's not recommended to hide any of the buttons, if you wish to stay in line with the GDPR.
Text
The Text template applies to reCAPTCHA. It handles reCAPTCHAs created with the dedicated Joomla! plugin.
The Text template uses the following content blocks:
Type | Description |
---|---|
Content | This is used to show a paragraph with Info Button and Consent Button incorporated. You may use a special syntax to render custom text as buttons. You will find the instructions underneath the input field. |
Withdrawal Button | This is a button that only appears when consent is given. It is connected to a special function. When clicked, the stored consent value will be set to denied and the external service will be disabled. |
Banner
The Banner template applies to Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager. It handles the external services integrated in the YOOtheme Pro Settings section.
The Banner template uses the following content blocks:
Type | Description |
---|---|
Title | This is the headline. It appears at the beginning of the banner. |
Content | This is the most flexible block. You can display a single paragraph or create a custom layout. You can even render custom text as Info Button, Consent Button or Reject Button by using a special syntax. |
Reject Button | This is a button connected to a special function. When clicked, the user's denial will be stored in the browser and the external service remains disabled. |
Withdrawal Button | This is a button connected to a special function. When clicked, the stored consent value will be set to denied and the external service will be disabled. |
Use Preview Mode during customization
If you can't see the banner with Customizer opened, you can enable the Preview Mode. Just make sure to disable this option before closing the Customizer. If you can't see the banner at all, it may be that you have activated a Consent Management Platform (CMP) like Usercentrics. CMPs use their own banner and therefore replace our banner.
Use a Review Button for banner templates
A Review Button enables website visitors to re-open the banner and reconsider their consent decision. Simply add the CSS class rp-consent-review-google-analytics
or rp-consent-review-google-tag-manager
to any button and it will be connected to your consent banner.
